Experiencing the Sweet History of Hershey Park

When planning our trip through Pennsylvania, one stop stood out above the rest: Hershey, PA—home of the world-famous chocolate empire. We didn’t come for the amusement park this time, but instead to dive into the chocolatey history and see firsthand how Milton Hershey built one of America’s sweetest legacies.

A Tale of Two Sweet Tooths

Here’s the funny part: I’m not actually a huge chocolate fan. My husband, on the other hand, could probably live on Reese’s and Hershey bars alone. For me, the real excitement came from discovering all the other sweets Hershey makes—like Jolly Ranchers (one of my favorites). It was a perfect balance: he got his chocolate fix, and I got my fruity sugar rush.

The Heavyweight Champion of Chocolate at Hershey Park

One of the standout highlights of the trip was the chance to create our own one-pound Reese’s Cup. My husband, of course, was practically bouncing at the idea. He proudly dubbed it his “heavyweight champion,” and honestly, he wasn’t wrong. This thing was massive. We loaded it with marshmallows, pretzels, Reese's Pieces, and caramel. When we finally dug in, it was absolutely delicious… and I'm not sure who can eat a pound of that in one sitting. Let's say we had this Reese's for weeks.

Sweet Takeaways

Even though I’m not the biggest chocolate lover, visiting Hershey was such a unique experience. Between the history, the endless candy options, and the hands-on fun, there was something for both of us. It’s not every day you get to step into a place where candy isn’t just a snack—it’s a culture.
