On our first-ever tidepooling adventure in Crescent City, California, we were completely mesmerized by the hidden world revealed at low tide. This vibrant orange starfish, nestled against the dark coastal rocks and perfectly mirrored in the still water, was one of the first treasures we discovered. We couldn’t believe how much sea life was tucked into these little pockets of shoreline—colorful anemones, tiny crabs, and starfish of every shade. Seeing these beautiful creatures up close made us fall in love with tidepooling instantly and left us eager to explore even more of the coast’s secret ecosystems.
