This mighty bull elk emerged from the tall grasses like a ghost of the wild, rising suddenly from the meadow with a commanding presence. Meghan had stepped out of the car to photograph a nearby group of cow elk when this giant locked eyes with her—his breath thick, his chest rising, his antlers towering above the grass.
 
Without warning, he began bugling and grunting, announcing himself with that unmistakable, resonant call that echoes through the mountains. Startled, Meghan sprinted back to the car while Patrick, already poised with the camera, captured this incredible moment—the raw wildness, the intensity, the sheer beauty of a bull elk in full display.
